Gustav Klimt was an Austrian symbolist painter born in 1862. His most well-known work was influenced by the organic forms of the early Arts and Crafts movement. Roses Under Trees was painted in 1905 during Klimt's Golden Period. It is one of several Mosaic style landscape paintings Klimt created.
