William Morris
William Morris (1834 -1896) was an English textile designer, artist, writer, who helped instigate the English Arts and Crafts in the 1860s. He was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. His literary contributions helped to establish the modern fantasy genre, while he helped win acceptance of socialism in fin de siècle Great Britain.
During his lifetime, Morris produced items in a range of crafts, mainly those to do with furnishing including over 600 designs for wall-paper, textiles, and embroideries. In addition he designed over 150 stained glass windows, three typefaces, and around 650 borders and ornamentations for the Kelmscott Press.
