This colorful painting was the second of Lautrec's work representing the Moulin Rouge cabaret built in Paris in 1889. It features a man thought to be the famous dancer Valentin le Desosse teaching a new dancer the can-can in the middle of the crowded dance hall including Lautrec's father and other aristocrats.
