Van Gogh's Sunflowers are one of his most recognized works. This Van Gogh Sunflowers scarf is a detail of a repaint of his 3rd version of sunflowers in vases which he painted in 1889. Beautifully printed on light, airy chiffon with a soft drape, this Van Gogh scarf has the same rich yellows, browns and oranges on a teal blue background as in the original painting.
Vincent Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands, 1853 - 1890. He did not embark upon a career as an artist until 1880. Most of his best-known works were produced in the final two years of his life. Van Gogh painted many Sunflower theme paintings in various stages of life. The earlier series executed in Paris in 1887 depicts the flowers lying on the ground, while the second set executed in 1888 while he was in Arles, shows bouquets of sunflowers in a vase.
