The Hallucinogenic Toreador was painted by Dali between 1968 and 1970. In it he expressed his wife's dislike for bullfighting by combining symbolism, optical illusions and familiar patterns and colors typical of a bullfighting ring. Salvador Dali was born in Spain in 1904 and lived until 1989. He is known as on of the most important surrealist painters.
